Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you

What HN thinks

Delighted locals discover their dentist was an opera house, while Europeans demand metres and their own-language Wikipedia.

Charming way to learn local history
Many found surprising nearby stories, from Cold War bunkers to the first Round Table Pizza, and felt nearby articles are oddly more compelling.
It's just Special:Nearby repackaged
Several noted Wikipedia's own Nearby feature and apps already do this, though the location input and presentation add some value.
Needs radius, language and unit options
Common requests: configurable distance, local-language Wikipedias, metric units, topic filters and shareable links; rural users get almost nothing, cities get schools and roads.

Consensus: Most like the idea and execution, but agree it is limited by English Wikipedia coverage and notability rules, and should offer language and radius settings.
