Leak Exposes 41,000 Homeland Security Workers–Including Undercover ICE Agents

What HN thinks

A data leak thread that wandered off into the 2024 turnout figures and stayed there.

Law enforcement shouldn't be anonymous
Many argue officers' identities should be public anyway and that masked, unidentified agents enable abuse and impersonation. They see the leak as a route to accountability.
Undercover agents now in danger
Some worry that undercover staff, including people doing legitimate work, and their families could be physically harmed because of the exposure.
Politics and accountability tangent
Much of the thread argues about elections, Trump's approval and whether a future administration will actually prosecute anyone.

Consensus: Most commenters show little sympathy for ICE and agree that masked, unidentifiable law enforcement is unacceptable, though a few raise safety concerns for undercover agents.
