Show HN: OnKey – I'm a bad singer, so I built an app to show where I'm off-key

What HN thinks

Warm encouragement for a pitch app, mild heckling of Anthony Kiedis, and the obligatory 'why isn't this native Swift' cameo.

Pitch is only part of singing
Several commenters note breath support, technique, rhythm and prosody matter as much as notes, and warn lenient scoring could mislead beginners.
Useful, fun tool with feature requests
Many like the idea and ask for Linux support, stricter or gentler difficulty levels, gamification, and excluding backing-vocal sections.
Vibe-coded Tauri bloat critique
One commenter objects to a webview app when native Swift would be leaner; the author says most size is bundled AI models and Tauri eases porting.

Consensus: Most find the app a nice entry point for bad singers, while agreeing it covers pitch rather than full vocal technique.

Recommended in the comments

The Music Lab ↗ (service): Suggested for testing your pitch perception rather than production.
Dan Callaway (other): Recommended as a good teacher for vocal technique beyond pitch.
Jeff Rolka (other): Named as another good singing teacher.
Little Snitch (tool): The author uses it to see what apps are talking to the network.
